Hi, my name is Rachel Sims. This is story of how my security guard job at EXM Chemicals changed my life forever.
Now, I know what you're thinking: someone broke in so that they could steal a top secret formula or I was saving people form an explosion at the company. My luck wouldn't allow me something so dramatic or cool. Not yet anyway.
It happened on Halloween. The lab was getting ready for the party when a shipment came in to the lab: a meteorite. So, as I always did, I went to the loading dock to escort the cargo to the correct laboratory.
As the chemists put the meteor on the table and started to drill into it, a strange liquid bubbled out of it. The liquid looked like tar, but moved like oil. One of the chemists seemed rather excited by this discovery. They apparently thought this thing was a 'symbiote', a theoretical organism that could adapt to anything they wanted it to.
Because the company's most powerful stock-holder was a tire manufacturer, one of the chemists suggested that they try bonding the sample to a rubber compound to see if they could potentially develop a better tire. Seemed like a waste to me for a resource that came from space, but maybe that's why I was working for minimum wage.
However, it wasn't long after they managed to develop their new form of rubber that one of the so-called geniuses in the lab got the bright idea to use the newly invented substance as a prank and hurl it at my face.
While the eggheads laughed, I clawed away at the stuff in an attempt to get it off, but that's when my body started to feel weird... like I was melting. I looked down and realized that I felt that way because I actually was melting.
By this point the only thing left was left neck (and that was joining the rest of me in rapid succession). The rest of my body had become a puddle of goo. I screamed at them to help me, which made the awe-struck geeks jump. It seems that they were surprised that I was still alive in my condition.
One of them had an odd idea and asked me to try and will my body back into a humanoid shape. Surprisingly, with enough concentration I was able to form an almost human-like figure. I was still basically just a living puddle and had to stay focused to maintain my desired shape, but I at least FELT more human.
One of the scientists perked up, proclaiming that they thought they had a solution to my dilemma. Rushing over to a closet in the corner, the nerdy gentleman dragged out a deflated, life-sized female blow-up doll. Outraged by the idea of being stuffed inside such a disgusting container (especially when no one in the laboratory could tell me with any certainty whether or not the thing was unused), I was soon faced with the unfortunate idea that it was the only human-shaped storage space they could offer for me to use until they figured out a way to fix my condition. With a heavy sigh I let go of my concentration and instead worked my puddle-body through the air-plug leading into the blow-up doll.
And that's when things got weird.
As I began to fill the doll's body, I could fell myself changing again. Bit by bit, the rubbery doll began to combine with my body and become a new substance closer to skin. Once I was completely inside, the plug seemed to vanish within me.
I quickly realized that the symbiote had been modified to react most favourably with rubber, and my new rubber exterior meant I now had a human exterior with incredible transformative powers. I wanted to look more human, and the blow-up doll's features took on the realistic proportions and movement of a human being's face. I wanted to be wearing clothes, so my new body naturally produced a duplicate of my security guard uniform. I could now change my body into any shape I wanted and instantly change my 'clothing' into any outfit I dreamed of.
And that was just the beginning...
